May 14, 2013 Progress Notes:
On Roadstead Farm
Words today: 1050.
Words total: 63,600.
Reason for stopping: I wanted to wrap up tonight's work before dinner, and that didn't happen, and now it's most definitely bedtime.
Darling du Jour: "I see," Marthe said, and from whatever depths she'd been lost in for days, she surfaced: suspicion first, dark and smoldering, and affronted rage on its heels.
Mean Things: Other people seeing your family fights in all their glory. Small things becoming large things.
Research Roundup: Sheepherding whistles.
Books in progress:
matociquala, Range of Ghosts.
So basically, due to professional circumstances beyond my control, the last two days sucked in a 360-degree arc through about five temporal and spatial dimensions.
Things are improving now. I got to see
umadoshi for lunch! And I bought an insanely gorgeous pair of shoes for the Nebula Awards! And I got to get work done, and killed off the scene that had been giving me fits all last week in a way both tidy and elegant and means I get to write other, better scenes that do not give me fits. Today is much better than yesterday.
Hopefully tomorrow continues in this vein, and then we catch a very early-morning flight for San Jose Thursday morning. And we will find out just how well, then, I can write fiction on planes.
