See this?

Never assume a baking sheet is not hot. Ever. Or you will spend your afternoon in emergency feeling like a tool.

Thanks -- I am told they won't be 100% for like, three weeks. But I would be happy with 50% soonish. I think I earned this one allll by myself. :p

Ouch!!! That makes me cringe cause I remember how many times I have done that myself...

Feel better, heal quickly!

Owwie. Cooking and cleaning can be hazardous to your health. So can a momentary blankness of my brain. I managed to burn both hands by trying to clean a porridge-gunked bowl with boiling water, and taking a wrong step to the sink. Ouch. I can empathise. I hope you feel better soon.

Noted.

I'm fairly sure that you're going to have a pretty darn spiffy New Year's Party, so wishing you one is likely superfluous, but I'm doing it anyway.

Ouchie!

What this situation requires is a very stylish mitten ("Tell me the truth, doctor - will I ever knit again?")

From: [identity profile] leahbobet.livejournal.com
Can't actually knit now (or type well; bandage too thick to bend fingers) and this is causing much consternation.

*nods* I still have scars.

Yikes. I'm sorry.

My bad burn scar on my left hand from 2000 (note: use tongs to put things in hot oil, dammit) lets me know about changes in humidity. So maybe you'll get that not-so-superpower out of the deal.

I kinda hope not. It's right on the finger pads. I use those. :/

From: [identity profile] mrissa.livejournal.com
I should have been clearer: it is the scar from a bad burn, not a bad scar from a burn. So it's just slightly visible, and it just slightly itches when humidity changes a lot. Which really could be worse, all things considered, even for bits you use; but I can see why you would want to avoid it anyway.

Owwie. I've done that. Perhaps not to the same extent, but Ouch. Once I jostled the board after ironing some stuff, sending the still-hot iron to the floor. Tried to catch it. Succeeded, but not for long. Darn those reflexes!

Hope it feels better soon.

Aw! Okay okay, I always wanted to find out, but I haven't stuck my hand on a hot baking sheet (yet)!

Did burning your hand smell like something you should eat?

Date: 2008-12-31 04:38 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] leahbobet.livejournal.com
...I can't remember anything like smell, or maybe I would have needed to burn it worse for that. Everything kind of went very focused for the second or so I had that end of the baking sheet.

(Long story short, it was on stovetop, I wanted to move it, but one end was over oven vent and oven was on. Thought because close end was cool...well, just didn't think.)

Hot oil, for me. Def. an "I should not have done that" moment. One does not soon 4get such moments.

Oh, dear. I do that with knives, so I sympathize. Have a safe and careful recovery. (Shall we send you oven mitts for a Twelfth Night present? No, no, just kidding. Get well.)

Owie. I know what you mean. I (very dumbly) tried to pick up a hot fajita skillet with my bare hand. I probably should have used my brain a little more.

All baking sheets are always loaded.

Never point a baking sheet at anything you don't mean to bake.

Know what is behind the object you intend to bake.

It's almost enough to make a body consider those completely unnatural silicon baking pans.

From: [identity profile] leahbobet.livejournal.com
I like the silicon ones! You just floop 'em around (yes, technical term) and your baked item is free from its pan!
