December 29, 2008 Progress Notes:
"Sugar"
Words today: 1000. This is actually yesterday's.
Words total: 10850.
Reason for stopping: It was really, really late. No, more.
Books in progress: Iain M. Banks, Use of Weapons; Robert Graves, The Long Week-end.
The glamour: I am in a...let's say an anxiety attack of activity right now. Between making this apartment habitable for guests for New Year's (I do not have guests. Ever. I have very strong feelings about where my private space starts which started when this apartment became mine alone, and so the whole apartment is sort of kept like private space. Wednesday night will be a bit of a first.) and getting together the menu for said evening and keeping up with words and magazine/workshop/critting commitments and an uptick in parties/social obligations this week I am in a crazygonuts of activity. But my bathroom's clean, and I have moved a small mountain of work in the last two days, and I can totally do this. Just...gah. You better be able to trade in glamour for cookies somewhere.
Was at my parents' house for belated holidays last night, wherein I received many little Moleskine notebooks and tasty brownie mix (it was sort of a low-key holiday) and knitted most of the cuff of a sock. Further sock has been achieved tonight at
thesandtiger's, where we had a sort-of New Year's while
dolphin__girl is still in town -- since she is Surprise In Town and now it can be told. I may begin to use this sock as an indicator of whether I'm getting out of the house enough.
I would very much like to spend a day or so with the phone unplugged and my sock in hand and watching Metropolis. There has to be somewhere in this city where I can buy that movie, or at least rent it. One more thing for the list.
