The December issue of Ideomancer is live:

And in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, we hope you will take a moment to relax and read! We're focusing on exodus and utopias this issue, so with that in mind, you'll find:

Rachel Swirsky tells of secret help hens receive as they flee the coop a tale of "Exodus." George Walker's story, "Zorroid," follows a woman's perilous journey as she crosses a border, while A.C. Wise's "Cloth from Flesh, Flesh from Bone" relates the results of searches by two very different women.

Our poets this month are G.O. Clark, Marsheila Rockwell, David Kopaska-Merkel, and J.C. Runolfson.

And I suppose now is as good a time as any to let everyone know that we've had a change of masthead. After four years of frequent above-and-beyonding, icon-making, editing, organizing, and editor-wrangling, Publisher [livejournal.com profile] msisolak is stepping down to concentrate on her own work.

I'll be the new publisher, as of the New Year.

Look out for Things To Come on the Ideo front!

ooh! Congrats!

I'm not sure I've read Ideomancer before, but I really like Swirsky's work so I think I have to check it out.

Congratulations to her on making time for herself, and congratulations to you on gaining time for the publication!

And now I will rush off to read it, as the last issue was my favorite so far, and I challenge this issue to beat it.

I think it is up to it! I am particularly fond of a couple of the pieces in this issue, even though moms aren't supposed to have favourites.

Well, I can pick all the favorites I want, and I choose Zorroid. But they were each fantastic anyway. Despite loving Zorroid best, I think I'd be more likely to pick up a book of stories by the authors of the other two, because the suspense and worldbuilding in Exodus feeds my particular addictions, and I fell into the rich mood in Cloth From Flesh, Flesh From Bone and didn't want to come back out. I almost wish that one was a novel.

Yay! Glad you like it! We don't buy humour or funny-serious very often (because it's just so subjective, really), but "Zorroid" made me rock in my chair like a crazy old lady. :)

(...I said "other two" like there's nothing else in the issue, but I don't have a poem-mind, so my favorites will nearly always be prose.)
