It's Leap Day.

Take a risk. :)

Then come back and tell us about it.

I started my risk a couple of days ago. I put it on today, contemplated knitting the sleeves, and frogged the whole thing! lol

Hee!

I am working on a new risk (http://ysolda.com//wordpress/lace-up-opera-gloves/) too. It is extra risky as the pattern instructions are...minimalist, let's say.

Those look like pretty ordinary instructions to me - at least I understand all the abbreviations for a change. That doesn't mean my glove would come out perfect, of course.

The last pattern I found that I wanted to try had Os in it. Not YO, just O, and used both by itself and as P2O. I'm not sure if it's pass 2 over or purl 2 pass one over or what - and the O is just plain puzzling. :)

I hope you enjoy making and wearing these! They do look like fun.

I'm having some decoding issues. But, then. New at this and all. I think the last pattern I did was just written to be more...user-friendly?

Right now they're a pain in the butt, but I think the lovely's coming any minute now. :)

Anything in particular puzzling you?

I'm not sure I'm doing the slipped first stitch thing right. I have a notion of why that's there, but I can't solidify it enough to make sure process matches product.

As you have probably figured out, when you slip one at the beginning of a row, it can help keep your edges from getting a loose look - it has a tightening effect because not working that stitch until the next row means it stretches to fill 2 rows of stitching instead of 1.

So if you are simply moving that stitch to the other needle you are doing fine. It shouldn't make much different here, but as a general rule, on a purl row I would slip it as if you were going to purl it, and on a knit row I would slip as if to knit.

And that's all I know about that!
