Thud, figurative and literal
Jul. 18th, 2007 08:45 pmJuly 18, 2007 Progress Notes:
"Miles to Isengard"
Words today: 3000.
Words total: 8600 MS Word, 10,500 SMF.
Reason for stopping: DONE. *nails corpse to the wall*
Munchies: Spaghetti with basil pesto sauce.
Exercise: Walking.
Mail: Nomail.
Darling du Jour: No darlings today. Or at least I'm not going back to the file to hunt one out.
Tyop du Jour: N/A
Words MS Word Doesn't Know: Nada.
Mean Things: Your friends getting killed and/or selling you out. Being reminded that your new ethical paradigm is not as tidy and useful as you thought.
Research Roundup: Travel directions galore, flora and fauna of central Idaho.
Books in progress: John Milton, Paradise Lost; Ken MacLeod, The Execution Channel
The glamour: Today, being a class day, was largely glamourless.
Novelette finished (!) and sent out to The People for critique and kicking, and I feel a bit like I've been kicked myself. Part of which is mild caffeine reaction and some upcoming deadline issues -- whenever I have a paper due I do a certain amount of thrashing beforehand -- but this afternoon just took it out of me. Writing is hard. Harder than it used to be.
But I have Finished A Thing, and no longer have to get on my own ass about not actually doing any writing while styling myself a person who writes.
Now, beer and the very difficult judging of the "X for Y" contest.
