Jul. 17th, 2006 11:36 pmJuly 17, 2006 Progress Notes:
The Earthly Ascension of Ducky Cheung
Words today: 800.
Words total: 1250.
Reason for stopping: My AC just choked and made suspicious dying noises. This is really bad.
Tea: Iced dragonfruit sencha.
Munchies: Pasketti.
Exercise: Berry-picking yesterday in the hot hot sun.
Mail: Acceptance from Strange Horizons for "To Her Mother" (poem), then three rejections. *g*
Other Writing-Related Work: Some critting, sending out stories.
Darling du Jour: They keep forgetting that The Pond is not a democracy. It's more a constitutional monarchy. The constitution reads don't fuck with Ducks.
Tyop du Jour: N/A
Words MS Word Doesn't Know: N/A
Mean Things: Obsolescence, continued virginity, being one-upped, bedroom spying.
Books in progress: Tobias S. Buckell, Crystal Rain; Iain M. Banks, The Algebraist; Charles Stross, Glasshouse
The glamour: ...my AC really better not die on me. Not this week.
Yesterday, because we arestupid courageous,
ksumnersmith and
cszego and I went strawberry picking in the 36 C heat.
It nearly took all day and we sorta half-killed Chris (sorry :/ ), but we have a dozen 500mL jars of strawberry jam and some fresh raspberries. Karina is a hero of the revolution for decapitating 14 cups of small strawberries.* I am declaring myself a hero of the revolution for the accomplishing the immense amount of cleanup that a jam session involves before passing out in a tired, heat-exhausted haze at 11:30pm last night.
*All good revolutions involve decapitation.
Also, I have the distinct pleasure of announcing that The Bookstore now has an LJ community at
bakkaphoenix. We'll be announcing new releases and events, and just chatting about genre, the store, and day-to-day stuff over there.
Come over and join in. Doom commands you!
