Okay, the funny part of this post is your not specifying which set of morons you're referring to. Because some of my flist is eye-rolly at SFWA, and the rest at LJ's new adult content rules. A small sliver of the flist is all "Here are some dumb people. Here are some other dumb people. Can we sic them on each other? And then sell tickets?"

I find it really odd in a way that it was so competitive, until I remember that band is A Thing in parts of the US. Here it was just...we did our stuff, and the music teacher picked who was first chair. And you didn't argue with her, because she was like this tiny drill sergeant of death.
