It appears that the Fall 2007 issue of On Spec, containing "The Sorceress's Assistant", is going out through the mails.
This is a bit of a special one for me, for a few reasons. One, this story was an Artist's Challenge from a piece of
elisem's jewelery: a necklace-crown called "The Name-Thief". Two, this is the first issue that On Spec has their new Featured Author...um, feature, and to my great surprise and pleasure, that's, well, me.
There's a picture and a 700-word bio involved in that.
So if you don't like the story, now you have enough information to track me down and dump ice cubes down the back of my shirt. *g*
The issue also has fiction from Scott Mackay (local author and friend of the bookstore),
swan_tower, and
gvwilson, who did not tell me he had sold a story to On Spec or would be sharing a ToC with me, and will now be killed horribly for that once I'm done congratulating him.
Pick up a copy at all fine or awesome booksellers.
