My novel-in-progress (probably-accidental!YA postapocalyptic katabasis ghost thingy) is doing the same thing to me. I've literally loved more or less every minute of the process so far and it's over halfway done. Which is, like, absurd. For me. I may end up being the only one in the world who likes this thing but BY GOLLY I LIKE IT ENOUGH TO GO AROUND.
