I'm too lazy to go find the correct post so will answer here.
I asked my sister the knitter about crochet. She said she used to crochet somtimes but gave it up because she is left handed and while she can knit left handed she couldn't crochet left handed. But she acknowledged that among some in the knitting community, crocheting is seen as of a somewhat lower order (she doesn't see it that way, tho).
