Thud: On Roadstead Farm
May. 10th, 2013 11:30 pmMay 10, 2013 Progress Notes:
On Roadstead Farm
Words today: 1000.
Words total: 62,050.
Reason for stopping: P. is home, with Vietnamese takeout and an offer to rub out my achy shoulder.
Darling du Jour: I turned down the gravel path to the outbuildings, and past, and thought: The army is a small town. Tyler lives there. I do not.
Mean Things: Oh look, it's army scouts coming to find the secret things you're really not supposed to have on your property. Have a nice day!
Research Roundup: Cities with high populations of Chinese-Americans and Arab-Americans. There's a whole article for the Chinese-Americans. They hide the information for Arab-Americans. Evil, evil sign of the times.
Books in progress:
matociquala, Range of Ghosts.
Y'know? I am going to do these again. Because I need to write a lot of words in a small space of time (note how the totals have changed since I stopped doing metrics; blame many false trails, thousands of trashed words, and several rounds of mid-stream revisions, because this project is just being like that) and have the overall feeling of being trapped in my last semester of undergrad.* And I have kind of needed to be alone with this particular jellyfish-wrestle for a few months, but at this point I feel like I could use some other people on board, to at least be there when we stuff the mixed metaphor into the bucket with the bunghole and the thingie.
Selfish, maybe? But I will attempt to provide good darlings and witty repartee.
*switches deathmarch metrics to ON*
*"I can't do this!" "But you have to." "How? I'm so tired." "I don't know, but you have to, so you will."
