After work tonight I went up to my parents' house. Part of the reason? Their pear tree is fat with fruit, and it wants for a tender hand to take it down and turn it into edible tasty things.

Or was.

(Yes, my counter is dirty. Shut up. I cook.)

I am going to let the pearrow-wight mound Pear Tor Kilmanpearo one unitary apocalypse of pears sit for a few days -- the pears are a touch woody -- and then attempt some canning. And pies. And [livejournal.com profile] stillnotbored suggested pear butter, at which point I had a mouthgasm.

Three-quarters of the pears are still on the tree. They were too small. I am enjoined to make a second trip come September.

Your pear recipe recommendations will be gratefully accepted here. *g*
