Con Report
Sep. 8th, 2004 10:21 pmHere it is. :)
I got in late Thursday night, due to the conjunction of an airport shuttle with a flat tire, a missed flight, and some severe crankiness. A few phone calls and I met up with
sosostris2012 in the room, and we headed down to the Sheraton bar and found Everybody Else. This was the scene of the only two alcoholic drinks I had all con, as well as
porphyrin aggressively pitching my novel to someone I found out five minutes later was an agent. Eee.
Mostly we drifted around and went to some panels (highlights being the Princess Alone panel, the Advice for New Writers panel, and the somewhat confused Chickpunk panel). We went to the art show and mocked the profusion of technically well-executed but anatomically inaccurate nipples. We went to the dealer's room and spent too much money. I acquired an artist's challenge necklace from Elyse Mattheson, and it's eating my brain. It may be a novel, in fact.
We hung out in the bar a lot, and talked to many many people, and I saw friends I hadn't seen in a while and missed and met people that I'm now missing.
I dressed up for the Hugos. :)
That's really it. Maybe it's the tiredness right now, but most of the weekend is a pleasurable blur. A con is a con is a con, I think, and this was a good one. I didn't find myself without things to do at any given time.
Kind of a lame con report, but here it is.
In other news:
Toronto Book Update:
Pages edited today: 147 -- about 80 of these were actually done on the flights to and from Boston
Pages remaining: 0
Reason for stopping: Finished the first pass on the manuscript and marked it up all pretty.
Tea: Genmaicha
Munchies: Spaghetti
Exercise: Various errand-running around the city
The next thing I do is start inputting the line-edits I wrote on the mansucript, fix the voice in the first 25 pages, and start cleaning up some of the first draft debris. Namely, the second draft. *g*
Also poked at Pritchard Book and the new book that's brewing in my head, which we'll call Claire de Lune and which needs to cook a bit so I can find out what this girl is like. Dual-book writing action,
matociquala-style, may ensue this month. *g*
