Odd thing about periwinkle and me- I remember being a little kid, 6 or 7 maybe, and seeing the flower (http://biotech.icmb.utexas.edu/botany/perihist.html) growing wild in a field nearby my house as I was walking home on a hot summer day, and thinking "Hey, that looks just like the crayon!" I knew then that that was what they named the crayon color after. I can't remember many things from my childhood, but that memory stands out for some reason.
