State of the Monkey

I have finished the revision (that was in the icebox, and which you were probably saving for breakfast).

What does this mean for you? Well, apart from getting yet another insight into the fact that the publishing process is nothing if not slightly repetitive, I may actually have interesting things to say about the world and said writing process by the end of this week. I know I was boring for a month. I'm sorry. There was this revision and this dayjob and things and I got very, very tired for a while there and could not come out to play.

I did start taking notes on yet another inappropriately-timed novel idea that will really have to wait its damn turn. Yes, I am writing a reply to -- of all things -- Darkman.

Go figure.

So what've you been up to?

One of my favoritest bad movies (OH SAM RAIMI NO). I can't wait to see what you do with it.

[identity profile] leahbobet.livejournal.com 2009-09-22 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It is a terrible movie. In like, the best way.

So far there are, well, dead superheroes. And broken-down theme parks. And strained relationships and dead people. Yanno. Like you do. *g*

Augh, write faster!!!

[identity profile] leahbobet.livejournal.com 2009-09-22 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Trying! *cries*

*pets you and gives you yarn*

[identity profile] leahbobet.livejournal.com 2009-09-22 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
That is so not a thing that will make me write faster. *g*

(Although I'm almost finished the socks. Then I decide if I want more socks or to start my Coachella.)

Embrace the power of "and."

...I can't knit out-of-season stuff, personally. Which is a srs bummer, for I haven't yet finished the skirt I was doing in Montreal, and it's getting on for cold here. (I am a wussy Texan, yes.)

[identity profile] leahbobet.livejournal.com 2009-09-22 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, first I have to finish the Neverending Sweater (TM), which has been in exile on my coffee table all summer because it it an unending font of screwups. But I'm not a fast knitter, and tend to be a one-project-at-a-time knitter so I don't drive myself nuts.

[identity profile] txanne.livejournal.com 2009-09-22 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes. We knit so we do not kill people, and driving ourselves nuts with it would kind of defeat the purpose.

[identity profile] leahbobet.livejournal.com 2009-09-22 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. And probably get blood on my nice Knitpicks circulars.

Oooooh. I has the envy.

Where's the first port of call?

I've been being depressed about not finding a job to pay my mortgage, and wondering how long I could live on my equity if I sold the house.

Time to stop that now, even if it means I work days at Tim Horton's and nights at PetSmart.

I have been wrangling a soft little boy who's just reached the laughing, smiling & babbling stage but who has also reached the drooling stage. I picked up some brocade (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y83/Katsudoo/P9170086.jpg) at the FabricLand sale last week and I'm also been getting ready to try and finish [livejournal.com profile] auraus's wall (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y83/Katsudoo/Asian%20quilt/quilt001.jpg) quilt (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y83/Katsudoo/Asian%20quilt/IMG_0008.jpg)

[identity profile] leahbobet.livejournal.com 2009-09-23 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh. I eagerly await the photos. :)

[identity profile] leahbobet.livejournal.com 2009-09-23 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Ack. And boo. And fingers crossed for you here.

[identity profile] leahbobet.livejournal.com 2009-09-23 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh, that's pretty. And nice scissors, too.

[identity profile] monkeyman.livejournal.com 2009-09-23 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Darkman already has two 'replies'. And they're even worse than the original. (Though I'm as fond of the original as any bad movie I love ... and particularly because, at the very last moment of the movie, he disguises himself as Bruce Campbell.)

[identity profile] leahbobet.livejournal.com 2009-09-23 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure sequel = reply. In fact, I think it's usually quite the opposite.

[identity profile] kats-kradle.livejournal.com 2009-09-23 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
They reminded me of the scissors described in The Kitchen God's Wife, though if I ever find a pair exactly as described in that book I'd probably explode from glee.
