Thud: Short Story, Review
November 9, 2007 Progress Notes:
"The Ground Whereon She Stands"
Words today: 200.
Words total: 2200.
Reason for stopping: We're back to creeping.
Tea: N/A.
Munchies: Black shrimp carbonara pasta, with bread and an apple crisp thingy with some ginger sauce after. Yes, there was dinner out tonight.
Exercise: Shelving.
Mail: Some replies to queries.
Darling du Jour: N/A.
Tyop du Jour: N/A
Words MS Word Doesn't Know: straightnesses. That's okay. I made that one up.
Research Roundup: Nothing right now -- it was mostly cartilage and transitions.
Mean Things: All previous mean things continue!
Books in progress: M. John Harrison, Light; textbooks.
The glamour: Life of bookstore wage-slavery, punctuated by good chocolate kept in stock at said bookstore.
Seem to have two reviews for "Displaced Persons", of all things, on a linked pair of SF review sites: one at Free SF Reader and one at Not-Free SF Reader. I assume this is free fiction online versus stuff you have to buy, since the free one links the story at Strange Horizons and the not-free one mentions its reprint in the the Year's Best for Teens collection. Which is listed as a bargain book, I note, so I think that means it's been remaindered. Buy now, folks.
I am a little puzzled by the...punny-alliterative logline-style notion of reviewing? Is that characteristic of this blog, and is it meant to be a shtick of some sort?
Either way, 4 out of 5 sounds like a vote of confidence. We'll take it. *g*
And now, to bed.
