I've never seen Tom Waits in concert, but green_trilobite and I saw him walking along Queen Street last time he was in town. We'd just seen Mystery Men, so green_trilobite said jokingly, "hey look, it's Tom Waits." I surveyed the guy. He really looked like Waits. Also the guy he was talking to said "see you at the concert tonight." Also my housemate had been talking about going to see Tom Waits in concert that evening. I whispered "I think that *is* Tom Waits."

Afterwards, for a long time, green_trilobite would hopefully say things like "look, it's Vincent d'Onofrio," but it never worked again.
