I'm sympathetic to it, on some level. It's what I'm like about academic work, or any sort of research.

But it makes including such a person in conversations with a crowd of metaphor-hyperbole-and-allusion types without letting them dominate (or just plain kill) said conversation really challenging.

Extreme cases always make me think of that Chaucherblog tshirt: "Okaye so sometymes it raineth in March: make notte a chancerye case of the whole mattere."
