Are all the TCP/IP settings default? Set to DHCP under advanced when you right click on the network thing and go to properties?

... it's a PC not a Mac, right? (If it's a Mac I'd actually be more help...)

There are no proxy settings in Internet Explorer (under tools... options/preferences/LAN Settings or something) that could be irrelevant now are there?

Other than this I really don't know without knowing the ISP... who are they?
