I apologise too; I think I was misdirecting my own anger and frustration at the basic point that a woman can be at the head of her profession and be at an event where that was being celebrated - apart from anything else it pretty much distracted attention from Willis's Hugo - and still not be safe from a jerk perpetrating an "intendedly childlike grabbing of [her] left breast" (Ellison's own nausea-inducing description of his action).
I think in terms of response, my inclination would be to write to the Worldcon organisers asking how they propose to attract woman to an event where it is clear that no woman, whatever her age or standing in the community and no matter how public and well-lit the areas of the con she frequents, is safe from sexual assault.
